LUBBOCK, TX: June 21, 2006 – The Lubbock Cotton Kings and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) completed a trade with Lubbock obtaining the rights of forward Trevor Weisgerber in exchange for the rights of forward Emery Olauson.

“It became apparent during this past season that Emery would not return for the upcoming season and he informed me that he wanted to play elsewhere,” said Cotton Kings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Chris Dashney. “We were able to acquire an impact player in Trevor, who has a proven track record for productivity. The focus now shifts to signing him for the upcoming season.”

Weisgerber (wise-gerber) played in all 64 games last season with the Killer Bees and led the Bees in scoring with a franchise single-season best 63 points (20 goals, 43 assists). He also appeared in six postseason games last season and contributed three assists. A consistent scorer, leading the Bees in home and road scoring, Weisgerber led the team with a single-season franchise best 43 assists and unassisted goals with 4. The 27 year-old also set the franchise record in consecutive games with an assist last season with 6. He co-led the club in special team goals (12), power play goals (9), shorthanded goals (3) and game winning goals (5).

Prior to joining the Killer Bees last season, the 6’2” 185-pound forward spent three seasons playing for the San Angelo Saints. Weisgerber produced 30 points in 04/05 with 15 goals and 15 assists while limited to 32 games. He was leading the Saints in scoring through November with 9 goals and 7 assists for 16 points in 15 games before suffering an injury in December, but still managed to rank third on the club in power play goals with 4. The Vibank, Saskatchewan native turned pro in 2002/03 with the Oklahoma City Blazers after closing out a college career at Lake Superior State. He played in 11 games with the Blazers before a trade sent him to San Angelo. In his three seasons with the Saints, Weisgerber played in 135 games (third most in Saints history) and was their all-time leader in points (131) and goals (56), while also ranking second in franchise history with 75 assists. The fourth-year pro has accumulated career totals of 78 goals and 120 assists for 198 points in 210 games. Weisgerber is no stranger to Cotton Kings followers, as he has appeared in 23 games against the Kings in his career and has 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points in those contests.
