July 19, 2006 - (Blazers Press Release) The Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League signed centerman Garrett Prosofsky, Blazers head coach Doug Sauter announced Wednesday.
Prosofsky, a 5-11, 190-pounder from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is entering his sixth season as a professional and third as a Blazer. Last season, despite missing 26 games with an injury, Prosofsky registered 44 points (16-28-44), served 76 minutes in penalties and led the team in game-winning goals with six. At the time of his injury, he was leading the team in goals scored, assists and points. His solid play earned him a spot on the 2006 Northern Conference All Star Team.
The Philadelphia Flyers fifth-round draft choice (139th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft has been productive in his two seasons as a Blazer, recording 94 points (30-64-94) in just 87 games played. Entering this season, he has played 257 games as a pro, scoring 227 points (94-133-227) and serving 320 penalty minutes.
“From his first day as a Blazer he was a guy we could count on night in and night out,” said Sauter. “With his injury last season, he didn’t have the kind of season he can have. A healthy Garrett Prosofsky makes our team a contender.”
The addition of Prosofsky brings the number of players signed for the 06-07 season to eight. He joins veterans Tyler Fleck, Marty Standish and Peter Robertson as well as defenseman Mike Burgoyne, forward Graham Dearle and goaltenders Sean Connors and Justin Day.
The Blazers will open their historic 15th season at home Friday, October 20 at the Ford Center at 7:35 p.m. |
