July 24, 2006 - The 2006 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes have signed another former Central Hockey League player, inking former Laredo Bucks forward Scott Kelman on July 21st. Kelman agreed to a one-year contract that will pay him $450,000 at the NHL level and $40,000 at the American Hockey League level, according to a press release issued by the Hurricanes.
A former first round draft pick of the Phoenix Coyotes (15th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft), Kelman played 41 games with the Bucks in the 2004-2005 season, scoring 14 goals and adding 21 assists, prior to seeing 24 games with the Bucks AHL affiliate in San Antonio.
Kelman is the third former CHL player to sign with the defending Cup champs this off-season, joining forwards Dave Gove (Laredo, 02-03) and Keith Aucoin (Memphis, 04-05). |
