June 28, 2006 - (Team Press Release) WINDSOR, CO- The two-time defending Governors' Cup Champion Colorado Eagles have announced the re-signing of forward Chris Hartsburg for the 2006-07 season. This will be Hartsburg's third campaign with the Eagles, who was the Playoff MVP in Colorado's 2005 Central Hockey League President's Cup title run.

Hartsburg, 26, played in only 29 games last season with the Eagles due to injury, but he tallied 22 points in limited regular season action. He returned to the lineup in March against Fort Worth after a 35-game hiatus tying a career-high with four points on a goal and three assists. The Edina, Minnesota native picked up where he left off in the 2005 playoffs with a two-goal performance in the first game of the 2006 post-season against the Oklahoma City Blazers. In 12 playoff games, Hartsburg tied for the team lead with six goals and ended the playoffs tied for third on the team with 10 points.

This is a big signing for us looking ahead to this season," said Eagles Vice President and Head Coach Chris Stewart. "Hartsburg is a very smart two-way player, he is solid in all three zones."

In 1999, he was chosen in the 7th round by the New Jersey Devils in the NHL Entry Draft. Following a four-year career at Colorado College, he spent two seasons with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League where he scored 11 goals and totaled 19 points in 91 games. In the two seasons with the Eagles, the 6'0", 200 pound center added career highs in goals (13) and points (29) in 2005, and assists (17) in 2006. He has excelled in the playoffs scoring nine times, while assisting on 13 more in just 28 games.

The back-to-back Governors' Cup Champion Colorado Eagles will begin their fourth season of play in October 2006. Colorado has been the winningest team in the Central Hockey League over the past three seasons compiling a 130-40-18 record, and has set the "AA" record for consecutive sellouts at 94 regular-season games and counting.
