PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs and hockey fans alike are one step closer to professional hockey in Northern Arizona.

Starting at midnight and concluding at 8:00am, crews worked throughout the night to pour and smooth the cement surface that will serve as the ice rink floor at the Prescott Valley Convention and Events Center.

The pouring of the arena floor is one of many tasks that need to be completed before the arena will be ready for its first hockey game on Nov. 10.

"We're very excited to see the arena floor completed," said Arizona Sundogs President and Managing Director Hayne Ellis. "The completion of the floor puts us one step closer to being able to step on the ice for the first time and making professional hockey in Northern Arizona a reality."

Ice Rink Fast Facts:

- Ice surface is 17,000 square feet

- 11 miles of cooling pipe and 3 miles of heating pipe make up the vast piping system under the cement surface

- There are 4 thermostats located throughout the floor to monitor temperature

- 7,100 cubic feet of concrete makes up the floor surface

- There is approximately 3,000 gallons of cooling liquid in the cooling system
