Killer Bees and ESPN Radio 1240 renew pact
08/31/06 - Central Hockey League (CHL) Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees
Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) and ESPN Radio 1240, part of BMP Radio, today announced they will continue their broadcast partnership for the third consecutive season.

"Our partnership with the Killer Bees is an essential part of ESPN Radio 1240's commitment to the Valley sports scene and we are proud and happy to continue that partnership," said BMP Radio Operations Manager Jeff Koch. "We look forward, as one of the many fans of the team, to a tremendous season both on and off the ice with the Bees."

All games, pending contractual conflicts, will air in their entirety and include a 15-minute pre-game show and post-game wrap up. Fans can look forward to contests and giveaways, interviews and player features in the first intermission, Don Cherry's Grapeline during the second intermission, and highlights during the post game show. All games will be available to listen to, free of charge, on killerbeehockey.com.

During the week, Head Coach Paul Fixter and players will be frequent guests on Tony Forina's Sportsline, a daily show from 4-6 p.m.

Play-by-play voice Rich Bocchini returns for his second season calling Killer Bees games. The 2006-07 campaign will mark his 10th season in professional hockey. Bocchini previously called games for the Knoxville Speed (UHL) and Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) and served as a color analyst and back up play-by-play announcer for the Worcester IceCats (AHL) for four seasons. He is also the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Killer Bees.

"Rich has become recognizable for his enthusiastic and informative call of the game, bringing a dedicated base of fans to the radio every night," said Koch. "His vivid call lets fans "see" the action while listening, as many have told us."

ESPN Radio 1240 is part of BMP Radio (Border Media Partners), the nation's largest privately held Hispanic radio company. With 35 radio stations and growing, BMP Radio offers quality programming to listeners and marketing results for customers.

"We're excited to have our games on ESPN 1240 again this season," said Killer Bees General Manager Grant Buckborough. "Our partnership with BMP Radio has grown tremendously since the team's inception and we're thrilled to be back with them for the 2006-07 season."
